48 Hours

48 Hours is finally upon us. I know that all sides of the case have been interviewing and working with 48 Hours for months. My first contact with the producers was back in December of 2007....and I know that they had been talking with the key people of interest in this case even before that. I know it's been a long road and lots of emotions for everyone. Baring one's heart and soul on national television in the hopes of the grand results helping everyone move closer to receiving the justice they deserve isn't easy or comfortable or flippant. It's heartwrenching.

Well, now it's time to see what the good folks with CBS and 48 Hours have compiled from their hours, days, weeks and months of research and interviews. Having met with Erin Moriarty and the producers myself, I find them incredibly fascinating. They really love their job, are very interested in the case and they are a top-notch bunch. I think we all look forward to their compilation of work. The show airs Saturday, May 10, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. (That's 9:00 for Texas)

Take a minute to view the following video clip of Erin's thoughts on the case.
(Before watching - scroll down to the bottom of this page and pause or stop the music so you can hear the audio on the videos below)

Moriarty's Reporter's Notebook - Erin Moriarty talks about her upcoming report on Matt and Kari Baker. After Kari died, Matt - a preacher - found himself accused of murder.

More later....

He has creepy haunted eyes.

Did you see that he blinked when he answered that question! I know this is so nerve wracking for all involved!

I completely agree with Erin Moriarty in the point she makes about how important the crime scene is/was.

The Hewitt police were too quick to take Matt's word for everything.(To me, that was the biggest gamble MB took in all this.) However, since there has been only 1 murder in Hewitt in the last 8 years (well, besides this one) the police on duty at 12AM that Friday night probably weren't real experienced when it comes to handling murder scenes. But the JP who just phoned it in... He has certainly seen a crime scene or two. He was the fail safe that failed IMHO. Glad he changed it later, but if he had showed up and done his job that night, MB would not be where he is today.
I wonder if the DA has been slow to move because he knows the police and JP messed up and he is afraid it will be harder to make something stick because of their incompetence.

HOWEVER I don't think any DA is just going to drop this...despite the fowl up at the crime scene. It's just going to take longer and move slower. And we may need to help remind the DA that Kari still deserves justice.

Stay strong Dulins and family! My family will be thinking of you this Saturday and hoping this story helps us get closer to the truth we all seek!

I pray that 48 Hours does the right and just thing. I know they have to show both sides. But I hope that all the characters in this drama are shown for exactly who they are, what they did and what they know. Kari deserves to have the truth shouted from the mountaintops. If not on the show tomorrow, I guess her family won't mind settling for it all coming out in the courtroom. As long as truth presides, Kari will be vindicated.

You think this is funny?

Shannon~ I don't think that the anon commenter at 10:27 was trying to be funny. I too noticed that on the preview when Erin M asked Matt if had ever assaulted anyone he did sorta break eye contact and look away. I noticed after that anon comment. Don't know if I would call it a blink. Many people put a lot of stock in what someone does with their eyes when telling the truth or a lie. I don't know for sure, but I don't think that comment was meant as anything but an observation...
Anon~ Am I right?

No. He did blink when asked if he had ever sexually assaulted anyone in that clip. Honesty does not break eye contact. I am on your side. And yes, I can see that everyone is a little rattled and nervous about this. Sorry, if I was not clear.

SG - It's possible. And if I'm reading it wrong, I apologize to Anonymous. It just really sounds like a familiar jab we've had on here before when some were analyzing Matt's body language during interviews and one person wanted to make fun.

But if I'm wrong, I'm sorry, Anon.

Alright. I had a glitch when I went to publish this comment. It shows that it was published but it's not here. So until it decides to pop up, I am going to quote it and then respond to it. It'll probably show up as soon as I hit send on this. Oh, well...

I'm so sorry, Anon. I had a cynical moment and didn't read your comment in the right tone. Forgive me, please? You are very right about his eye contact 'skills' and body language. Please stick around. Use an initial or nickname or something if you want and I'll always know it's you. ;)

Why aren't the Hewitt Police and the Justice of the Peace being nailed for their criminal INACTION?? What recourse do people have when law enforcement officials fail to do their job?

Ouch, Matt. Doesn't look too good for ya, huh?

I received a comment this morning that I don't want to post but do want to talk about here.

SPM said this:
"Yes, it is interesting how changing stories make one sound guilty. Well, that is true if you want them to be guilty. I have read and listened to the Q & As and do not find differences, just questions lending themself to different anssers. If changing the answers mean guilt, then one has to wonder how Mrs. Dulin is able to say she never spoke to media until she spoke to 48Hrs, when she spoke to many, many local TV stations and newspapers. Oh yes, there is a difference between local and national. No, not really, just if you want there to be a difference."

Mrs. Dulin didn't say she never spoke to the media until she spoke to 48 Hours. Where on earth did you get that?

I don't want to be rude but....either you are making things up and think people will be stupid enough go along with you without reading or thinking for themselves or you simply didn't comprehend other posts and comments on here.

Then you go on to say ugly untrue things about the Dulins and all but dare me to post it. This is a support blog for Kari and those seeking justice for her. Always has been. No secret there. Take THAT business somewhere else.
