San Antonio story from December 27, 2007

A commentor pointed out that there was a story and video ran in San Antonio last week. Took a little digging through the mysanantonio.com site but I found it.

Kerrville man waiting for possible murder indictment <---story

News broadcast on KENS5 <---video

The comment left here was:
"If you still believe and are convinced that Matt is guilty, then you have not been watching the later videoes or reading the newspapers. As they are poointing out the other side and not just the affidavit that was so full of holes. San Antonio had a report on one of their tv stations last week."

And as I responded, it's laughable for someone to think that that a news story is enough to convince someone of anyone's guilt or innocence. That can't be done in a news broadcast, newspaper article or even a blog. Besides, this last news story doesn't show any new "evidence" or whatnot. It's just another attempt and gaining sympathy for Matt's circumstance. That's all. Although now they are amping it up by using the children.

That news video sickens me! How dare he use Kensi! What a sicko! That poor child. Everything she is having to endure and then he has her do an interview with the news. Did you see how she almost started crying?! It breaks my heart. I would never put my daughter's through that torment!

And I know he'll get on here and say she did it on her own free will, but, WHATEVER! She is almost 12 years old, he should be making the decision not to have her publicly interviewed! Great parenting, MAtt!

Your ex-cousin...

Lindsey "Ryann" or whatever you want to call me this week!

Well, I don't know if he killed his wife or not, but he sure don't seem to care enough about his kids to protect them from the spotlight. It don't make him look to good, I don't think. Maybe his publicity hound dog lawyer wants another book deal out of all this, and Baker don't have better sense than to listen to bad advice.

forget the law...let's just let Ryann/Lindsey at MB. I don't think he'd last 5 minutes with her. Knowing you have truth on your side gives you a great deal of courage, doesn't it Ryann/Lindsey.

You shur sound country to be from the 'big' town of waco. Ain't no reason atall not to let the older one speak her peace if she so wants. She is purt near a adult in the eyes of the court system. She done knows she can talk to judge very soon. Glad you ain't my ex-cousin, whatever you may be called. I shur don't agree that he is doing a bad parenting job. I hear tell he is a great parent.

gal darn it, you ol'possum (1-6 3:20 PM). Ain't you a right smart 'un. Where did ye git yore edeecashun....the school of I'll believe anything some ol'ornery liar says (and I'm thinkin' that ol' ornery MB is a whole heap more than just a liar).

enough of that....you aren't going to be able to cling to your delusions much longer. What will you do?

BTW--what makes you think that poster was from Waco?

I'm the 11:59 poster from Jan.6, and I am not from Waco. Does Soul Cafe ring a bell, Matt? Lots of people have questions we want answers to, so don't think we all swallow all you say. I think you are the one that thinks you are the great parent, but actions are what matter--not boastful words.

I have never commented here before as I just found the site. But if any of the Dulins are reading this, I want you to know that no matter what anyone says, it was mere minutes, I mean MINUTES! after SVE heard the news and started the phone tree that people said there is no way Kari did this on purpose! Matt was suspected from the first hour the news broke by many. Kari was loved. Those girls were loved. They were at the top of our hearts and prayers for months... until Matt took them away. Matt would not let anyone get close to those girls or go in that house. No matter what anyone says those who were there know. Kari did not take her own life.
I believe MB will not escape judgment...and if he knows anything about the scriptures he should know that judgment on this side of eternity is far better than what he will face on the other side. Also, I don't think there is an instance in scripture of un-confessed sin being forgiven. Not one. You can't snow God.
Thanks for this web site!

To add a different voice... I knew Kari from a far. She was not the happiest person I ever met. Despite what has been said here about her, at first impressions I did not think she was the type person I wanted to teach my kids... BUT then one day I heard her talking about her girls. And even though she was not my favorite person, I knew beyond the shadow of a doubt, that she loved those girls. Her face transformed when she talked about them. She glowed. Later I saw her with the girls several times. I never saw Matt with Kari and the girls though and even though I did not know them wondered if she was a single Mom. i was shocked to hear she was married to a minister.
Kari was so proud of those girls. From afar it was obvious who she loved and that those girls were her top priority. I have no doubt that she would have moved mountains to keep them from pain. So from the moment I heard she had died, not ever knowing Matt, or any of the families, I felt that there was no way that this woman would take her life and hurt those girls. I know nothing about Matt Baker but the things he is saying now do not add up. The Kari he describes does not resemble the woman I saw with my own eyes. No, Kari Baker was not my favorite person, but I believe she was murdered and Matt Baker seems to be he only one who would have or even could have done it.
Even if MB is never convicted, I will remember him as the man who killed a woman who loved her girls and them slandered her and her family every way that he could.

And might I add that before I even found this web site I thought that the way he is using those little girls as a media/pr shield is disgusting! And he seemed so proud that to say that his girls want their grandparents to be punished... What kind of Father would take delight in that? His smug smile when he talked about his girls not wanting to see Kari's parents convinced me that he is not the nice guy he is trying to look like. Has anyone challenged his custody rights?

Thank you for your comments. You are so right that Kari ADORED her girls!!!

Kari was an amazing and brilliant teacher. She did seem serious at times. I think that's because she cared so intimately and deeply for her students and concentrated tremendously on the best ways to help her children grow and learn. As a parent, she held me to task on my role in my son's education. She kept me very updated. I saw almost every day after school and got either a smile and thumbs up, a eyeroll with a silly grin when she playfully scolded Bro for something he'd done or not done that day, a thrilled report of something he had conquered and mastered that day, a serious talk when she had a concern with him, and then my favorite memory of the TAKS results day when she came skipping across the lunchroom to me beaming and smiling and thrilled and proud. Kari was all those things....and all those things in a big way. But the cool thing is this: Brody adored her. Told funny stories about his day in school. He'd still say she was just one of the funniest teachers he had ever had. She cut up and giggled. Made things fun. But she was also strict in the ways that mattered. So while I never personally witnessed crazy cut-ups with her, they were there for my boy...and he needed that kind of teacher. He didn't dread going to school then. And that's saying a lot for my Bro. ;)

Hang on. Let me check real quick. Hmmmm.....yes. Yes, I am still the one in charge here.

Sarcasm aside: Your comments are not the only ones I don't let through. Would you believe that there are actually a few comments that pop up from time to time that I think are too harsh against Matt for what I want to see on here. I mean, I may agree with some of them totally. I may enjoy reading them privately. I save them. But I don't post them all on my blog. Because basically, it IS my blog and I don't have to stumble over myself trying to convince you or anyone why I let some comments on here and some I don't. If something *feels* a certain way to me, I hold it back. You'd probably even thank me. But I'm sure you think you "know" me and are probably sitting there thinking I'm a big, fat liar. That's your prerogative. And this blog is mine.

I just watched the video and I am not sure I see what is so sickning or what was so wrong with it.
I thought it was pretty awesome to see the girls at all! I also think it is normal that the girls believe in their dad. So what exactly is the difference between this particular child being on tv or all the other ones we see daily? Nothing! She said what she believed!
