I think whoever Eric is....he sums up a lot of people's thoughts.

I belive Mr. Baker has blocked what he has done out of his mind. Maybe he did not mean to do it, but he did. Someone of his stature always has the capability and assumpsion that they will be forgiven by God for anything they do, which is true. BUT Mr. Baker has made too many mistakes in his life to get past the law again! Yes, God will be with him as God is with everyone. This time the truth shall prevail in the trial. To the families involved God Bless you and may you all seek justice is what is right and deserved.

Amen, Eric.
I was rereading the entire interview Baker did and I am insulted that he didn't think Kari had any deep friendships. Come on, we all knew that her job interview was for a 7th grade English position because she loved writing (correction...she was passionate about writing) and even helped prepare her for it. He didn't even get the subject right. Maybe it was his marriage that wasn't deep!
In talking to others that knew of her interview, it seems that she was applying for a "teaching" position, not a writing position. I am wondering is she ever wrote anything for publication? If so, I would love to be able to read it.
Uhmmm, no one said it was a "writing position." The comment before yours clearly stated "7th grade English position" because of her love for writing. That is a "teaching position."

If he had "helped her prepare for it", as the commentor says, then how can the same person say he did not care and their marriage wasn't deep? Not many spouses helps the other when they are preparing for an interview. Why did she feel she could help 7th graders more than 3rd graders. The third grade is such an important time for the beginning of great writers. You must know this Shannon, as your son has been through the 3rd grade.
"Why did she feel she could help 7th graders more than 3rd graders?" I just think that's a crazy question. She must have seen a job posting or heard about it. It apparently looked like a good position to take...whether it was a promotion or a raise or simply a class and grade that interested her. Why do YOU think 3rd grade "beginning of great writers" is more important than 7th grade writers? It's a silly question of someone grasping for something to pick at. Why does any teacher pick any subject or grade? They want to or the position is a good one. Doesn't really matter WHY she went on an interview, does it?
Shannon
"Mother of a son that has been through the 3rd grade."
No, don't guess you understand that most teachers feel "called" to a certain age, subject, etc., and do not change around every year. Very normal to have a retiring teacher of 20+ years that has taught same subject / grade the entire time. A few do jump around trying to find their "calling".
What I don't understand is you being hung on on such a moot point.

What in the world are you talking about??? Are you somehow insinuating that something was wrong with Kari's calling because she wanted to teach middle school kids? her student teachign was in middle school. The move was natural.
Show me the research to support your claim that teachers don't move to other grade levels but stay in the same grade for 20 or so years....this is something you are pulling out of your rear.
Kari was an excellent teacher. I taught with her. There is so much more that I could say but I have to watch myself.
To Jan. 8th (10:09am)And might I add, my husband and I help each other get prepared for job interviews. And we do have a very deep relationship. But at the same time, just because a spouse helps the other prepare for an "interview" doesn't exactly tell how "deep" their marriage is. There's alot more to marriage than helping prepare for an interview.
A teaching job in general is very important to all students. Does it really matter what grade?
The goofy pronouncement about a "calling" to a certain grade and the insinuation that because Kari chose to apply for a different teaching position sounds a whole lot like some of the interviews where Matt took a little punch or two at his dead wife...Anyone else sense that? And--that "calling" thing. Isn't that a "ministerial" term? Now who could be making those posts??
To the Jan 8, 4:29pm post, yes, I agree there is more to a marriage than helping each other prepare for an interview. That is the point that I felt the other poster was trying to make. Don't call the marriage dead based on the spouse's assisting with interview prep or lack of, basically this is a moot point and I never understood why the earlier poster made such an issue of husband not getting it "right" when he said English instead of whatever the other poster thought it should be. This whole issue seems moot. You are right on this Shannon.
My thoughts?
MOST of this thread is a moot point.
But the part where Matt likes to make it look like Kari had no deep friendships isn't. That's just being ugly. And whoever this is arguing on WHY she interviewed for a different teaching position and trying to somehow make her look like she didn't love the students she had at the time and/or is somehow less of a teacher for not staying in the same grade/subject for 20+ years before retiring is being ugly, too. Very. It is someone with some kind of vengence or ill will against Kari. I'll give you 3 guesses. First 2 don't count.
And just for Matt's benefit, if it's not him posting and saying such ugly things about Kari, he might know who it is...or not....but either way he needs to stand up for his wife, don't you think? If their marriage was wonderful and deep and he loved his wife as dearly as he says, wouldn't he stand up against someone attacking her character and heart?
THAT point is far from moot.

I don't have a "dog" in this fight, but I do NOT think Matt or MB as some call him, would ever want to post anything on any blogs; either for and certainly not against his wife. He has said in the interviews that I have heard / read that he loved his wife, and they married for life. I would be surprised if he even reads these blogs. None of them sound like a husband to me. Just my personal thoughts.
I heard him say he loved his wife and they that they married for life. But those 2 remarks were drowned out by all the negative and horrible things he said/says about Kari. When he has to "struggle to keep good memories alive for the girls".....I mean, either he's got memory loss or he really didn't think she was that great at all.
I mean I "get" that he wants her to look bad enough for people to buy into the suicide story. But he struggles to remember anything good for the girls' sakes? Give me a flippin' break.

Does it amuse others as it does me to see how far an "anonymous" poster will go to try and distance HIMself before HE shoots off another pro-matt remark? Doesn't read the blogs? Doesn't comment? Seems to me he is EVERYWHERE. The Trib drib from his last interview was filled with obvious comments from someone very pro-matt with lots of time on his hands. He isn't fooling anyone, and he is revealing how much he hated his wife with his damning faint praise of her. The poster just above your last comment, Shannon, is right about one thing: It surely DOES NOT sound like a husband should sound, and I'm referring to the interviews where we KNOW matt is speaking!
you ask why Matt does not stand up for his wife?? Well lets see, probally because he does not come here to read all this attack on himself! That is what the majority of it is!!!
What about in interviews, both in print and video? Where are his positive comments for the woman he loved so much?
It doesn't make any sense that MB would take time out to read this blog. I am sure he is loved by many and they appear to comment on matters. MB can't defend his wife if he does not know what is being posted!!!!!! Plus, Even if he did know I am sure he has been advised by his lawyer to not post on blogs. Only an idiot would believe that he would actually come on this sight and start defending his wife or even putting a comment. His is on the verge of a trial, he can't post his name on blogs so he can't defend anyone!!!
